　　The Show

　　LED Expo, India’s fastest growing exhibition dedicated exclusively to LEDs exhibited its firm support of the niche lighting segment by concluding yet another very successful edition held from 1-3 December at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

　　Well into its fourth year, the event has grown exponentially in terms of exhibitor participation and visitor footfall. Covering an expansive exhibition space of 100000 Sq. ft, the show attracted a total of 220 companies and drew 19,768 serious visitors. Visitors were rewarded with a showcase of new innovations and products, live demonstrations of technology, live demo rooms and an invitation to attend an exclusive conference on LED technology.

　　LED industry’s leading companies such as Philips Lumileds, Texas Instruments, CREE, Edison Opto Corporation, Nichia Chemical, Nihon Garter, Khatod Optoelectronic, Seoul Semiconductor, Regnant Lighting, Shenzen Createled Electronics, Amka Lighting, VIN Semiconductors, Rabyte Electronics and Kwality Photonics made their yearly comeback and were joined by equally competitive national and international companies like Epistar Corporation, C&S Electric Ltd., Atco Controls, Moserbaer India, UL India, HPL, Ovation Polymers, Decon Lighting, Donex Industries and many more.

　　Products on display

　　A wide range of products exhibited at the expo showcased new and upcoming technology and products, some of which were exhibited for the first time. Exhibit profile included High power LEDs, LED lights, LED backlights, LED automotive lamps, LED modules, LED solar lanterns, LED flashlights, LED signs & displays, LED components/accessories & raw materials and LED Drivers & Power Supply. Companies such as Regnant Lighting gave live demonstrations at their stalls while others showcased attractive displays of their products application areas such as LED underwater lighting, LED screens, LED interior décor lighting, LED retail lighting etc.

　　Show Highlight

　　Live demo rooms (LED Application Zones) showcasing various applications of LED Lighting were created to give the exact effect of LED lighting in action. Mock up room’s aptly showcased four application areas covering Office lighting, Rural Lighting, Hotel Guest Room and Bar Lighting which attracted a lot of attention from visitors.

　　C&S Electric Ltd.

　　The lighting company which is working on new generation lighting solutions had showcased 4-5 new products based on conceptualization. The highlight was of course a solar light with an invisible panel (the panel is a part of the column) which drew in a lot of attention by visitors.

　　Philips Lumileds

　　World's leading manufacturer of high-power LEDs and a pioneer in the use of LED lighting solutions, regular participant Philips Lumileds focused on the freedom from binning for its product showcase at the expo. “This is what the customer demanded in the past and we’re right there with the technology”, said Amrith Prabhu, country manager, Philips Lumileds. The company exhibited Luxeon LEDs including Luxeon A, Luxeon S and Luxeon Rebel Ls.

　　HPL India Ltd.

　　Manufacturers of electrical switchgear, metering and energy management equipment, the company which has now also shifted its focus to lighting launched a number of new products such as LED bulbs, LED tube lights, LED panel lights, LED street lights and LED flood lights. According to Virendra Satyawadi, Asst. Manager- Key Accounts, HPL India, “Our products have been accepted really well and we are getting a lot of enquiries for our LED flood lamps and LED street lamps because people feel that we are giving them the right solution.”

　　Regnant Lighting

　　The REGNANT group, known for its major emphasis on renewable energy focused on exhibiting LED & induction lamps at the expo. Stressing on the importance of it all Mr. Praveen Sood, Chairman, Regnant Lighting said, “We are focusing on these specific applications because many times just suggest one solution for different applications which is not appropriate. We must understand the environment and application and then suggest a suitable solution.”

　　Moserbaer

　　Moserbaer, which is into energy saving management business, showcased its complete range of LED products, both for indoor, outdoor and street lighting. It also displayed a wide range of lifestyle products which were introduced for the first time.

　　Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd

　　The company which is responsible for sales and marketing of Toshiba semiconductor products displayed wireless microcontroller LED drivers & LEDs and the new wireless LED lighting controls.

　　Eskay Projects

　　Under the brand name thinkLED, Eskay showcased its whole range of products encompassing indoor, outdoor, landscape and lifestyle products. According to Rohit Kapoor, There is a bigger market growth for industrial, commercial, homes and bars & restaurants. Homes are definitely catching up. As more people are becoming aware of LED lighting they are experimenting to use an increasing percentage in the house now.”

　　UL India Pvt. Ltd.

　　The standard project safety, performance and certification organization promoted its testing services by interacting with expo visitors on the safety of products and performance aspects of the product.

　　Donex Industries Ltd.

　　The high-tech enterprise in India specializing in energy saving LED lighting research and development, production, sales and service of LED products exhibited both indoor and outdoor lighting solutions. “Our products are different because it’s all manufactured in India and we’re therefore very sure about our quality. We also give a 3 year warranty with all our products”, said Vinod Kinger, CEO, Donex.

　　Edison Opto, Taiwan

　　Edison Opto, a Taiwan- based leading manufacturer in the LED market whose focus is on LED component manufacture, promoted its new idea- the LDMS- Lighting Design Manufacture Service. The company not only provides its customers LED components but also total solutions. Yet to have its offices in India……. tells us, “We are planning to have offices here because the Indian LED market is picking up and there’s a huge demand and it looks as if India will be the next China.”

　　Tamura Elcomponics, Hong Kong

　　This manufacturer exhibited domestic and industrial LED solutions for the Indian customers. New products exhibited included industrial bay lights, mini cryptons and new shining ball- LED bulb with 10W equivalent to an 80W conventional lamp.

　　Shibuya, Japan

　　A new entrant into the LED market in India, Shibuya deals in LED production machines. The Japanese manufacturer displayed an LED sorting and taping machine at its booth. Highlighting the importance of the machine Mr. Komura explained, “When the LED makers produce LEDs, they should measure the LED and classify them according to the end users need. This requires a sorting and measurement machine like ours.”

　　Stanley Electric (Asia pacific) Ltd., Japan

　　The manufacturer of lighting equipment for automobiles which is now looking to becoming the world’s first company to commercially market LEDs with high luminosity, Stanley Electric displayed at its booth 1 watt type high efficiency LED device, super compact size LED device, high power LED unit with cooling system and more.

　　Carclo Technical Plastics Pvt. Ltd., UK

　　Carclo Technical Plastics which manufactures and markets standard and specialized optics that are used in the efficient management of light emitted by LEDs exhibited its LED optics and street light. The company offers off-the-shelf products and custom products and has a manufacturing base in Bengaluru, India. According to Mike Bean, Head of Design, Carclo Plastics said, “Certain questions came up last year with people asking us why they need to use optics. I think we have answered that problem. People are coming to us to understand and they understand what we can offer and we’re seeing many applications for this optics now.”

　　Everlight Electronics Co. Ltd., Taiwan

　　The biggest LED component manufacturer in Taiwan showcased its LED lighting components, Light Engine, LED retrofits and LED fixtures. According to Ryan Hsu, Dept Head, Everlight, “LED components is our root and we’ve been in this business for the last 25 years and quite successful. We know the key component but we still need to gain more knowledge and we wish to copy the business model from Osram and Philips in India.”

　　Neufeld Power, Germany

　　The low price leader in the manufacture of quality LED drivers and power supplies (for indoor and outdoor LED lighting applications) showcased LED power supplies, drivers and ballasts (AC/DC power supplies and adapters). The German company is hoping to establish relationships with different distributors and sellers and perhaps also settle some partnerships with different manufacturers.

　　Instrument Systems GMBH, Germany

　　Instruments Systems displayed its light measurement systems. The company’s comprehensive range of light measuring products for industrial and research applications include high-performance array and scanning spectrometers as well as imaging photometers and colorimeters.

　　Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., Tokyo

　　A preeminent supplier of high purity silicones for high power LED had on display encapsulation silicon materials, silicon lens, die attach materials, high thermal conductive silicon adhesive materials , silicon circuit board etc.

　　Epistar Corporation, Taiwan

　　The premier LED chip provider showcased LED solutions for general lighting.

　　Ovation Polymers, USA

　　The USA based ISO certified company involved in research, development and manufacturing of innovative thermoplastic polymer compounds displayed LED parts and pellets.

　　Khatod Optoelectronic, Italy

　　A seasoned company in the production of optoelectronic components since 1982, Khatod had on display lenses and optical systems for power LEDs.
